GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: Enhanced support and what to check before upgrading

GTA VI is listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Understand what that confirms, which FPS and resolution details remain unspecified, and how to assess a console upgrade.

Read the enhancement label as a game-specific signal

The PlayStation product page lists PS5 Pro Enhanced for GTA VI. Sony’s PS5 Pro hardware page describes features such as PSSR and advanced ray tracing across compatible titles. Keep those two sources distinct: console capabilities describe available tools, while the game’s implementation needs its own details.

Do not assign another enhanced game’s performance mode to GTA VI. A badge can justify checking for an enhancement update; it cannot tell you whether the developer prioritizes image quality, frame rate, ray tracing or some combination in a particular mode.

Separate display output from rendered detail

A television reporting a 4K signal tells you about the output signal, not necessarily the resolution of every rendered game frame. Likewise, a display refresh rate is not a measurement of the game’s delivered frame rate. The frame-rate guide explains the timing difference without pretending to benchmark GTA VI.

When comparing future tests, require the console model, game build, selected mode and capture conditions. Look for equivalent scenes rather than two unrelated promotional images. A still image can help discuss visual detail, but it cannot establish motion smoothness or the frequency of frame-time spikes.

Check the rest of your setup before spending

Sony advertises a built-in 2TB SSD for PS5 Pro. That is hardware capacity, not a confirmed GTA VI installation size. Review free space in your existing console and use actual download information when available rather than calculating a purchase around a guessed file size.

Your upgrade decision should also account for the display you already own, your viewing distance and the other games you play. Decide what improvement would be noticeable and valuable to you, then wait for evidence that addresses that improvement. A faster specification on a product page is not a personal value calculation.

A practical choice for an existing PS5 owner

If your current PS5 is working well and GTA VI is your main reason to consider Pro, standard PS5 support gives you a basis to wait for clearer game-specific comparisons. That is a decision framework, not a claim that both consoles produce identical images or performance.

For a new console purchase, compare your total setup cost and the broader library you want to play. Keep the game edition decision separate from the hardware decision: extra edition content does not establish a different graphics-performance tier. The editions guide explains those purchase differences, while the physical-copy guide covers the code-in-box format.

Questions, answered.

Is PS5 Pro required for GTA 6?

The reviewed PlayStation product page lists PS5 support; it does not state that PS5 Pro hardware is required.

Does PS5 Pro Enhanced mean GTA 6 is confirmed at 60 FPS?

No specific GTA VI FPS target follows from that label alone. Check game-specific specifications and measurements.
